Think Water Partners with the Rural Support Trust
Think Water in New Zealand recently announced a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnership with the Rural Support Trust (RST). As well as a business partnership, Think Water is committed to supporting our local communities when they are in their worst hours of need.
As a business, we often benefit from harsh climatic conditions, and now, Think Water — in conjunction with RST — has the chance to support those who are most affected, both physically and mentally. This initiative reinforces our commitment to giving back to the people and regions that underpin our success, especially those who face the challenges of rural life head-on.
The Rural Support Trust is a network of 14 charitable trusts across New Zealand that provides critical, confidential services to farmers and growers. Their mission is simple yet vital: to strengthen connections in New Zealand’s rural communities.
They are the only not-for-profit organisation in the country providing nationwide, one-on-one support directly behind the farm gate. Rural Support Trust provides a lifeline to individuals and families facing hardship and isolation, helping them navigate difficult times with compassion and practical assistance.
RST works to alleviate the acute stressors faced by primary producers — from adverse events like droughts and floods to ongoing challenges such as financial pressure, livestock losses, and mental health struggles. They also connect farmers and growers with professional help, organise community events to promote wellbeing, and raise awareness about the importance of seeking support early. In many cases, they are the first point of contact when disaster strikes and the last to leave once recovery begins.
Their hands-on approach delivers real-world results. For every dollar donated to the Trust, a social value of between $4.60 and $5.50 is created, showing just how efficiently resources are converted into meaningful community outcomes.
Recent reports show that 94% of their clients feel less stressed after engaging with the Trust, and 97% feel more confident in managing future challenges.
One client described the Trust as “our backbone,” while another said the support made them feel “that you are not alone.” At Think Water, we live and breathe our local communities. Our stores and franchise partners are not just suppliers — they are neighbours, volunteers, and active members of the communities they serve. It’s likely that in many towns, our business owners know personally the people who are affected by adverse events and are emotionally and physically engaged in helping them recover.
This partnership gives Think Water a meaningful way to extend that community care nationwide. From awareness campaigns to fundraising activities, the collaboration will allow our network to play an even greater role in supporting the wellbeing of rural New Zealand.
