Brief History
Auckland Irrigation was established in 2003 by Will and Clare Thorne and primarily focusses on the design, installation and servicing of the Auckland residential and commercial irrigation market. They joined the Think Water group in July 2012 to expand their business to a store in Greenlane and are now the fastest growing and most dynamic water company in Auckland.
Think Water Auckland are locally owned and form part of an international network of Think Water stores which gives us access to the best quality products and a wealth of industry expertise.
Think Water Auckland have a considerable amount of knowledge and experience. We can offer turn-key solutions for your next water project whether it be irrigation, rainwater harvesting, pump supply and installation, water feature pumps, filtration, drinking water filtration, swimming pool, spa chemicals and testing.
Think Water Auckland are a family owned business and place a great deal of emphasis on building and maintaining long term customer relationships by delivering on our promises and exceeding our customers’ expectations.
No job is too small and we can do any job from less than $100 to over $100,000. Our mobiles are always on and our customers know they can get hold of us at weekends or at any time day and night.

Domestic Irrigation – We can design, supply, install and service any type of irrigation system from a simple, manually operated system to a fully automatic system. The team work to your budget and will offer their experience and expertise in your choice of the most appropriate irrigation for your garden whether it be dripline, microjets, shrubblers, MP rotating nozzles on risers or gear-drive pop-up sprinklers.
Commercial Irrigation – Provision of turn-key solutions for any type of irrigation project and can come in at any stage from design; consultation, installation, service or maintenance.
Think Water Auckland's designers use the latest Irricad 12 irrigation design services. All systems are designed with water efficiency in mind with special allowances made for your planting layout. The experienced team are ready to service your existing irrigation.
Think Water Auckland supply, install and service Hunter, Rainbird, Toro, Orbit, Pope, Antelco, John Deere, Plastro, Amiad, Febco, Dorot, Richdell, HR, Rainbird and Legacy products.
Pump Servicing & Replacement – Come into our store to see our pump bench with 7 different pumps plumbed in through 4 taps. You can turn each pump on an off and with the taps running you can compare each pump for tap pressure, performance, noise and value for money.
Specialising in Grundfos, Davey and Claytech, we have a team ready now to service your domestic or commercial pump system. We can service all makes and models including Lowara, Onga, DAB, Davies, Orange, ESPA, B1 and Pedrollo.
Rainwater Harvesting – Our team has experience installing tanks from 200ltrs to 30,000ltrs plus. Our current projects include many slimline tanks to supply water to toilets, outdoor taps and washing machines on blocks with little free space. This is not only eco-friendly but it saves you money and stops you flushing perfectly good drinking water down the drain. “Doomesday preppers” will also find it reassuring to have good water should disaster strike.
Collecting rain water is a rapidly expanding part of our business. Increasing water bills means that collection tanks will quickly pay for themselves. Our team can provide professional expertise and advice on all aspects of rain water collection / harvesting.
Drinking Water Filtration and Ultra Violet (UV) - Whether you use mains water, bore water or roof water we can advise and provide water filters and ultra-violet treatment to make your water safe, pure and pleasant tasting. Puretec, Davey, Microlene, and Cintropure.
Spa and Pool Supplies - Bring in your water for free water testing and analysis today and our team will recommend and supply the chemicals to keep your pool or spa in optimum condition - you will see and feel the results. Call us now for pump and filter servicing! We stock Poolrite and Spa Quip. We also stock pool pumps, sand filters, salt water chlorinators and if you’re not happy with your Barracuda pool cleaner then we will be happy to visit to demonstrate the new generation of Dolphin Robot Pool Cleaners.
Plumbing Parts, Pipe and Fittings – We stock a range of PVC, brass, medium density, LDPE and poly pipe and are stockists for major suppliers Hansen, Iplex, Aquaspec and Water Supply Products.

Will Thorne - Director
Will Thorne - Director
Will established Auckland Irrigation in 2003 and joined the Think Water New Zealand Network. Will has considerable experience in irrigation design and installation and specialises in commercial irrigation system management. He has a strong passion for sustainable practices and has been involved in a number of Green Roof Projects trialling different water distribution systems and substrates.
Will enjoys spending time with his wife Clare and their two children Isabella and Jake. In his spare time you may find Will at his local’s quiz night or at Eden Park supporting the Auckland Blues and the All Blacks.

Rob Bickerdike - Head Service Technician
Rob Bickerdike originally from Australia, has worked for several irrigation companies in Victoria Australia including Chapman and Rivett Irrigation, Southern Cross Industries and Sunshine Irrigation before taking a break to work as a pastor for 15 years in the UK and Italy. He moved to Auckland in 2004 and is now enjoying servicing and installing irrigation as a member of the team at Think Water Auckland.

Kayne Cash - Operations Manager
Kayne has been with Think Water Auckland for almost 10 years. In that time, he has progressed from being an Installer Assistant to heading our Installation Team, to then taking on an internal role as a Junior Designer/Salesman and eventually gathering the skills and knowledge to become the Operations Manager.
Kayne’s background is in the Design, Pricing and Project Management of medium to large scale commercial and residential irrigation systems, domestic and commercial pumping systems, water features, rainwater harvesting systems and residential and commercial filtration systems. Kayne also completed the Think Water Irrigation and Pumping Sales Training Course in 2015 where he achieved a Cert III in Irrigation and Rural Applications.
In his spare time, Kayne enjoys taking road trips with his wife Sharna and their three kids. He likes to keep up with many sports including getting involved with his social indoor cricket team the “Crazy Horses”. Kayne is a passionate rugby and cricket fan, he supports the All Blacks, the Auckland Blues and the New Zealand Black Caps.

“TK” first came to Think Water Auckland four years ago to complete his work experience as part of an accountancy degree.
He soon realised that irrigation installation was much more exciting than accounts and he has been with us since he graduated and is our busiest installer - averaging 60 hours a week in summer.
He is married and a devoted father to Elina. In his spare time, he likes watching sport especially rugby and working on DIY projects around his home.
Ross Turnbull - Installer
Ross Turnbull - Installer
“Ruffy” is the newest member of the Think Water Auckland team. After spending most of his working life in freight forwarding and logistics, Ross decided to take on a new challenge and applied for a role at Think Water Auckland. In November 2015 Ross was taken on as an Installer Assistant and by the end of summer 2016 had gained enough skills and knowledge to be placed a company vehicle and given the responsibility of running his own sites and installation team.
Ross now specialises in the instillation and project management of small to large scale residential and commercial Irrigation systems, residential rain water harvesting systems, residential and light commercial pumping and filtration systems. With his background in logistics, Ross has shown a strong ability to pick up and follow company policies and procedures and also to think outside of his role and add his “2 cents” where he sees fit.
Ross likes to keep up with many sports including playing soccer/football for his social team the “Brotherhood of Mantis” and his social indoor cricket for the “Crazy Horses”. After a hard game on a Saturday afternoon, Ross likes to relax at home with his wife Laura and their two boys Tyler and Lyncoln and catch up on the latest Netflix releases.

Mark Russell - Retail/Stock Control
Mark joined the Think Water Auckland team in the summer of 2013. He was taken on as a Service Technicians Assistant where he learnt about the service and installation of residential and commercial Irrigation systems. After two seasons, Mark had developed a great understanding of customer service and product knowledge. This lead to Mark applying for the role of Retail Storeman, successfully convincing Will that he was the man for the job.
Since then, Mark’s skills and abilities have grown exponentially. He now specialises in the supply of residential irrigation systems, residential and commercial filtration systems, residential and commercial pumping systems, swimming pool maintenance and ensuring all of our customers are receiving the service they require.
Mark enjoys spending time with family and catching up with the latest TV and is an avid fan of Game of Thrones. In his spare time you may find him participating at his local’s quiz night. Mark is also a huge sports fan and a big supporter of the All Blacks, Black Caps and especially the Wellington Hurricanes.
